It’s officially fall in Northeast Pennsylvania, the time of year my lips and skin seem to crack and refuse hydration as temps drop and air dries out. I already swear by 100% Pure’s fruit pigmented lip balm as a hydrating daywear option – with an intense pop of color, it’s just my style. But at home, at bed time, and during harsh winters, I require something stronger for hydration and protection against the elements. Enter: Ellovi Butter.
Ellovi prides itself in their first priority being natural ingredients that get the job done. Butter for the purposes of skincare was their first product, boasting intensely hydrating moisture simply created from macadamia nut, coconut, marula nut, hemp seed, and shea. There are no synthetic ingredients, preservatives, parabens, or otherwise harsh ingredients. I’ve been using the Mint Chocolate butter for every spot I lack moisture this time of year: my elbows, nose, hands and most definitely my lips. Typically, I would not reach for Mint Chocolate anything as that flavor/scent profile is often too strong for me. But after using this product over the last few weeks I’ve found that the minimal amount of product needed to cover my dry spots does not carry a powerful scent at all. My biggest concern was for use on my lips, where I need it most. Even there I was not put off by the hint of mint chocolate aroma, and the butter does for my lips exactly what I need it to: hydrate.
I’ve also dabbled in the use of this product to remove my makeup after the workday and a dab on a q-tip really gets those areas around the eyes where makeup removal is most challenging. The butter also carries an SPF factor of 5 -10 so it doesn’t hurt to add it on my face and neck when I’m heading out for the day.
Admittedly, I’ve never been the type to get my cat-eye liner perfect the first time around. Usually, the second time is the charm. That said, lately I’ve been reaching for 100% Pure Eye Liner pencils for detailed lines. Because they’re power packed with the creamy ingredients like Jojoba See Oil, Vitamin E, and Sunflower Seed Oil, the formula glides easily onto my canvas – giving me total control to contour and shape, and the ability to correct errors easily without having to scrub my eyes and start over. The pencil liner comes in Blackest (black), Bright Eyes (white), Royal (blue), Gleaming Pewter (silver with a hint of metallic), and Dark Cacao (brown). I use the lighter two below my eye to make them pop, and a variation of any of the darker three on the top lid for distinction.
We all know the area around the eyes are more sensitive than other parts of the face, so knowing that I’m applying natural oils and vitamin-enriched ingredients puts me at ease. They even mention on their website that everything they use is food grade and does not require testing, whereas chemical ingredients must be tested. Their makeup brushes are also vegan friendly, made from synthetic fibers.
